Notes: I'm posting this vid now because I just didn't think we had enough angst at the end of the season... *cries*

But I am so happy with the way this vid turned out. I had a lot of fun making it, and the massive thirty something page word doc I had as a plan probably helped a lot with that in the sense that it cut down last minute problems. And hell, I even had fun planning out that word doc for the vid and matching all the clips up.

However, I do have to thank [livejournal.com profile] waldorph who inspired me to make this vid by suggesting the song idea in an Inspiration post on [livejournal.com profile] spn_sceneit (and thanks to that comm as well, it's awesome). So this vid can be dedicated to you because I wouldn't have made this, nor had as much fun making it if you hadn't put the idea in my head first.

I also ramble on more about my vid-making process here.

Okay, normally this ends up being just one word doc but in my final copy I had deleted the clip groupings and I figured you would want to see those.
So this file (http://www.sendspace.com/file/63fu0d) is my lyric/vid guide. Normally, it isn't so precisely set out with the tables but this just happened to be a long vid with a lot of clips so I wanted to keep things organised. And this file (http://www.sendspace.com/file/c4nmym) shows my long list of clips that I thought of and then how I grouped them to eventually place against the lyrics.

Now that I think about it, once I got the clips grouped it was actually easy to place against the lyrics because each clip group went to a specific part of the song ie. clips relating to their parents went with the chorus.

I think having the word doc prevents me from floundering once I get to the editing program because I fool myself into knowing what I'm doing because I have a plan and I feel more capable of playing around with clips in the program because I have that plan to fall back. The only times where I haven't floundered when making a vid without a word doc plan was when the vid was very linear in narrative like Come Alive (http://mithborien.livejournal.com/87984.html) and to an extent Woman King (http://mithborien.livejournal.com/90367.html). Woman King was interesting because I had actually laid out that vid without a plan, then realised I had run out of time and the flow wasn't working. Then something went wrong with my computer and I could open the project file anymore and so I had to start from scratch. But since I had all ready placed the clips once, I had a better idea of what I had to work with and I was able to time and weave the clips together better. But that wasn't exactly easy and not a process I would recommend for creating a vid. Though it did work.

I so meant to get back to this sooner. I totally don't want you to feel like you wasted your time uploading those docs. But you know how RL gets sometimes.....

Anyway, I totally loved this! Thank you!! I'm such a behind the scenes gal, it's crazy. I just love to see how the nuts and bolts fit together, so this is wonderful. It's great to see how someone likes to lay things out. And thanks so much for the docs. I put them in my vid tutorial folder so I'll definitely being using them as a guide if I ever get back to vidding.

Thanks again! :D You totally rock!

That's all right, I'm terrible at replying at comments unless I get the notice when I'm physically at the computer.

But I'm glad you liked the docs :)
