[livejournal.com profile] gryffindor_phan raises a good point: when was the last time you actually bought a CD? I got Elliott Smith's "From a Basement on a Hill" as a Christmas present from my folks. That's the newest pre-packaged CD I have. Most of my music doesn't come from iTunes, it comes from the library. The Denver Public Library (http://www.denver.lib.co.us/) has a great selection of music. I go on-line, choose what I want and have it shipped to my branch. Then I rip it and return it. Free music; perfectly legal. Personal use, dude!

Anybody else raid the library for tunes?

I buy a CD when an artist or band I like brings out a new CD ie. U2. I don't think any libraries near me have music selections but for any individual or old songs I get them off WinMX, a file sharing thingy.
