Just watched all twelve hours of the Extended Edition LOTR and dude it was brilliant! However I'll be here all day if I start talking about it so I am just pointing out a few things that I liked loved.
- FARAMIR! I love him. His father is an evil bastard and deserved to die. But Faramir is so gorgeous and he tries so hard and he's just... so courageous and selfless that my throat nearly closed up watching him *sniff*
- There are far too many moments and yes, the innuendo was intentional there, between Aragorn and Legolas. Seriously.
- The music is so powerful and really compliments the movies. My favourite or the one I can remember is when the Ents march on Isenguard. I always get chills when I hear that. *must go play soundtrack*
- The kiss between Aragorn and Arwen at the end. OMG! That just gets more and more beautiful everytime. In a documentary Peter Jackson is talking about it and how in the first shot they did, it was a rather formal kiss but he just wasn't happy with it. So later on he thinks what would he want to see and said that would be for those two to just grab each other and start snogging!
- The different camera shots and effects that make the movie really interesting. Like in the Fellowship when Frodo says 'Get off the road' and then we see the road and leaves warp outwards. And then in Return of the King just before Frodo, Sam and Gollum climb the Stairs and that pillar of green light shoots up with the absence of sound. I like how varied everything was. It makes movies memorable (even though LOTR is memorable for so many other reasons!).
Er, I think that's all I can remember without giving anything away from the extra bits in the EE. I think it's got to the point where I've seen the movies so many times that I notice all these little mistakes. The movies are still brilliant and powerful and will never lose that. But now I always see Legolas trip and Eomer's sword falling out when he gets back on his horse in The Two Towers. Lol.
