Excellent...
One week :D

Okay, so TLC has a picture of the back cover of HBP, sadly without any text.

And is it just me or does the dark mark look rather rather comical. I just can't help but be reminded of Boni from the Trapdoor cartoon.

Hee, I used to love Trapdoor.

"The back cover depicts Ron and Hermione as well as two other Hogwarts students looking at "the Dark Mark". Drawn in the same green tones as the front cover, GrandPre has created another incredible piece of art that captures the essence and mystery of the Harry Potter books."

My dibs are on the other two students being Neville and Ginny. And if the Dark Mark is hanging in the sky then I think it's safe to say that the War has started and people are dying.

But I want to know what that building is in the background. I don't think it's Hogwarts because of that pointy pyramid thingy but the only place I can think of is Azkaban.

And the results of the Ask Jo Poll have been revealed.

- Do memories in a Pensieve reflect reality or the views of the person to which they belong?
- What is the significance, if any, of the gum wrappers Mrs. Longbottom keeps giving to Neville?
- How and when was the veil made?

That first one is good. The second one is slightly stupid because I don't think there was any hidden meaning behind the fact that Neville's mother is, sadly, insane. And I wish three had been expanded to include just what the fuck the veil actually is and when will Sirius be coming back, thanks? Although I don't think Jo would answer that.

Seven god damn days.

Oh and I also broke the nail on my thumb which seems a stupid girly thing to complain about except the nail was bloody long and got ripped off right near the skin so now the end of my thumb is a bloody mess and it hurts as well :(

Yeah, the conspiracists get all caught up in chewing gum and Mark Evans, and it gets a bit silly. I think even the pensieve question is silly. They can't reflect the views of the person whose memories they are, because Snape
a) didn't then know that Remus was a werewolf (probably)
and b) definitely didn't know that James and Sirius and Peter 'ran around with a werewolf once a month' or whatever the quote is.

Pensieves are stupid and I don't JKR considered how they could work when she wrote that scene, because if you think about it makes no sense that Snapes subconscious would have overheard the marauders' conversation.

Also, yes, Neville and Ginny.

Also, argh; seven days!

Trapdoor!

I know, that's why I liked the pensieve question because I want them explained. It appears that penseives show reality rather then a person's memory of an event but there is no way a person can remember all that, even subconsciously. Not conversations that are held out of hearing range as you said.

Unless pensieves aren't really thingys used to store memories but these weird arse magical objects that take a person's prompt of an event and go back themselves and record everything that happened but then that sounds stupid.

The subconscious is actually a very strange thing, but yeah, things that are out of hearing range! I think JKR just didn't think it through properly; she just wanted to give Harry a view of the marauders.

Mmm, I hope that scene is in the movie though.

I've never even thought of the film. It'd be moderately easy for them to cut that bit, though, as it isn't central to the plot.

I know, but if they got the casting right it would just be cool to see the Marauders. But that's if they got the casting right and if they included it.

*sigh*

One can hope.

One can dream. And dream I do. I want that scene so much to be in the movie and I fear it will be cut. But you're right, it'll only be cool if they get the casting right.
