So I went and saw Batman Begins tonight and it was really good.
This I liked, that I remembered:
- how we saw Bruce turn into Batman. In a lot of comic book or action films we see the lead character who has no mutation, etc, whatsoever be able to do spectacular things that really a human shouldn't be able to do. Here, we see how Batman learnt how to fight, got all his nifty little devices that prove his skills do not exceed his capability as a human.
- Christian Bale was a good Batman. He was intense without appearing comical which when dressed up as a black bat is something you have to watch out for.
- The idea of devoting yourself to an ideal, to a symbol, to become more than just a man, you become a legend. Because a man can only do so much when a legend can accomplish anything.
- Alfred had a weird accent. Not that I know accents but he sounded slightly Australian to me.
- Gary Oldman was funny and brilliant as usual. I love his glasses.
- It was interesting that the League of Shadows (?) turned out to be the villians when not only were they the ones who trained Bruce but they are the ones who were professing to stand for justice and what not. Just proves that the line between good and evil is blurry as hell.
- I also love the Batmobile "Does it come in black?"
- MONORAIL!
- Unlike other comic book films this one wasn't cheesy or cliched and the scenes weren't overtop which made for a balanced movie. It was believable considering the genre and good actors were cast for it.
- Twas a good movie.
