Dun dun dun dun di dun dun di dun...
So it appears everyone on LJ has seen StarWars. At least those of you on my flist. But you know what's really good? The fact that because I'm in Australia, we saw the movie ahead of the US :P Not that I'm bitchin about the US but I'm bitchin about the fact that Australia always gets movies and tv shows so much later but not this time so HA!

Of course, this post is getting typed up after everyone has already typed up theirs because this si the first time I have been able to get on the net but meh.

Anyway, so yes I went to the midnight session. My friends and I got in the line at about 8.30pm I think and we were about 150th in the line but it was cool because we were surrounded by Star Wars fans and we had many cool costumes at the cinema we went to. I think the best costume has to go to the guy who dressed up as R2D2 which involved this giant paper shell over his body.

Sadly he did not win the best costume competetion although one guy dressed up as someone from the matrix (god knows why?) but the theatre guy refused to give him a prize simply on principle. Oh and I almost caught a free t-shirt. Almost.

And we had a Stormtrooper who I think was one of the theatre guys who was standing up near the screen guarding it and one of the audience down the back had a red laser light and they were shining it on him so the stormtrooper promptly fell over dead. Everyone cheered.

I liked the movie though. It was better than the first two prequels. Strangely enough it started to get even better when all the Jedi started dying but overall it was good and tied up some loose ends.

But oh my god what was with some of the dialogue. It was cringe worthy and some of the lines were just so stupid. Especially the parts with Anakin and Padme in them. Personally I didn't mind her in the first two and I didn't mind their relationship but they way they talked to each other was just to cliched and over or underacted. And something went wrong with Padme's character. In I and II she was a Queen and shooting things and now she's crying and weak and pathetic. It just wasn't her and in my opinion she only had one good line in the film and that was when Palpatine took control of the Senate and she said "So this is how liberty dies; to thunderous applause". That was good, that was Padme. I also really like her wardrobe, in all three films actually but she wears such pretty clothes.

Another thing I didn't like was the Darth Vader frankenstein moment at the end. That was not Darth Vader and it was also stupid. However I loved Anakin when he was dark. He wasn't the best actor in other parts but when he turned dark(er) near the end ooh that was good. And I like his hair.

The scenes of all the Jedi dying were so sad but so well done. And the fight between Obi-Wan and Anakin and the end OH MY GOD that was cool but heart breaking and I so feel for Obi-Wan (even though he stole Anakin's lightsaber). And Anakin marching onto the Jedi temple WOW! And Darth Vader finally appearing. And I am probably forgetting many things but yeah, well, go see it yourself.

So dodgy dialogue aside, Revenge of the Sith had some very good scenes and I liked it overall. Yay!

And now I really need to sleep because I think I have slept maybe three and a half hours in the last fourty hours of so. Fun! Luckily I get to sleep in tomorrow.

I'm going to cry during this movie, aren't I?

Most probably.

I totally agree with you about Darth Vader's frankenstein moment! He's like a Lego dude at that moment... and that scream at the end surely didn't help.

Anakin looks so much better when he's evil. More convincing too.

And I also didn't like the dialog in the Anakin/Padmé parts... and many others, but those in particular.

The Jedi dying... well... That was good. I liked Mace's death and all the others, and the scene with Anakin and the kids at the Jedi temple... Poor kids.
And oh poor Obi-Wan. That scene where he's with Yoda and he sees the hologram of Anakin is heartbreaking (one of my favorites). That and the fact that he's in denial afterwards, not wanting to go after Anakin.

While I was sitting in the theatre waiting for the movie to come up, I kept thinking: there are thousands, MILLIONS of fans around the world all watching this movie at [roughly] the same time.

That was cool.

I must say I agreed with everything you said about the movie. And the line of Padme's about liberty's death was SO a Leia moment. I was swelling with pride at what was so obviously a moment to display Padme and Leia's similarities.

Very cool about the waiting in line thing. They wouldn't let lightsabers into our theatre, so there were a lot of cranky Jedi and Sith. Mucho fun.
