Okay, so there is this post on
metaquotes about someone reading The Da Vinci Code and not liking it and consequently making fun of it. As things generally go. So I'm reading through the comments and there are all these people saying how they won't read this or watch that simply because it's oh so popular and hyped over.
Am I the only person who thinks this is completely ludicrous? I mean, you're completely writing something off simply because it's popular. These things became popular for a reason and sure, you may not actually like them after reading them but at least then you have a basis for judging them.
If you're not interested in the genre then fine and say you're not interested rather than proclaiming you won't read them because of all the hype. I may be wrong but that just sounds stupid. I'm sure that for most people they like at least one thing that's popular so why discount the rest without even looking into them?
And who knows, you may find you actually like something even though it's popular.
