Dear Festividder 2023
Dear Festividder,

As always, thank you for making a vid for me!

I like all sorts of vids whether they be ensemble or character driven vids, vids with dialogue audio, vids with heavy effects, vids that are serious, vids that a funny, etc. So really, go with whatever angle or direction you want.

I also like all genres of music so feel free to choose any song. To be honest, a not so insignificant number of my favourite songs are songs that I love because they were used in vids that I love. So I am very easily won over in terms of music.

As I was writing out my notes for each prompt, I also realised that there is a common themes throughout most of my prompts, which is the use of parallel or mirror worlds and characters, real or metaphorically. I'm not sure if it helps you, vidder, but it was an intriguing little titbit I realised about myself.

But below are a few thoughts about why I like each source and some ideas for types of vids if you are looking for some inspiration.

Barbie (2023) [SAFETY]
While I had Barbies when I was younger, I was never a huge fan. But I saw the trailer and was immediately enamoured of the scene where Barbie is dancing, asks "Do you guys ever think about dying?" and everything just screeches to a halt. So that should give you an idea of the *vibes* that I like.

I really enjoyed the movie, however, I'm not a fan of Ken as much as everyone else seems to be. Still a little hung up on the fact that he brainwashed and enslaved the Barbies and then in the end Barbie was the one who ended up apologising to him.

Now this could have been an intentional choice as Barbieland is supposed to be a reflection of our world... but I am not quite convinced that it was was.

But in terms of vids I would enjoy a general vid about everyone (Ken's included), a vid focusing just on Margot's Barbie, a vid focusing on Barbie and Gloria's relationship, or a vid focusing on the above point about Ken.

Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead + Hot Fuzz + The World's End) [UMBRELLA]
As mentioned above, I have realised that I'm a sucker for parallels and repeating motifs, and would love a vid exploring the connections between the three movies. I also really enjoy the editing style of these movies and I enjoyed the various relationships between Simon and Nick's characters.

Game Changer (Web Series)
I haven't watched a lot of CollegeHumor and so I really had no idea who all these people are. Gamechanger was my introduction to them and I have really enjoyed watching them play out all the different types of games. And since the contestants appear more than once, it's like each episode is its own parallel world!

I don't really have a favourite episode but a vid that explores the fun and hijinks of each game would be great.

Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) [SAFETY]
I thought this was an amazing film, probably one of my all time favourites. So a vid about anything in the film would be great. Feel free to focus on a particular character or relationship or concept or anything. Again, parallel worlds, repeating motifs, amazing story, it's perfect!

Knives Out (Movie Series)
I really likes these two movies, they were very fun and I enjoyed watching the mystery play out.

I would enjoy a vid focusing on either movie or one that explores the connections between them, character focus vids on Blanc, Marta or Helen. I would also enjoy a character focus vid on Ransom, but I'll be honest and admit that it's because I enjoy the fact he's played by Chris Evans, rather than the character itself.

The Fall (2006) [SAFETY]
Another favourite movie. I think the visuals are amazing and I really enjoyed the story. I don't really have more to add but feel free to focus on a specific part or character if it intrigues you.

The Fountain (2006) [SAFETY]
And another favourite movie of mine playing around with "parallel" worlds. I also like Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz so it was great to see them in a movie together.

Gunpowder Milkshake (2021) [SAFETY]
I guess this is the odd prompt out because it doesn't have a parallel world aspect but I just like all the actresses in this and I found all the fight scenes really fun.

I'm not a fan of Madeleine dying though so I am all far pretending it just didn't happen.
