Help! Convertiung MKV files for vidding
Does anyone have any recommendations for converting/extracting .mkv files for vidding purposes when MKVExtract and MKVCleaner have failed you?

Specifically I have .mkv files of the Bluray seasons of Agent Carter but my normal method of extracting the video using MKVExtract isn't working.

I've written a couple of scripts for ffmpeg that extract the video and drop it into a mp4 container so I can import it into Vegas. It takes a few seconds per file and can do batch processing. You drop the mkvs into a folder along with the script, click the script and it does its thing.
Are you on Windows? If so I can send you all the files you need.

The above mentioned Avidemux does pretty much the same thing if you prefer a graphical interface though.

I am on Windows and I would love the files!

I've been spoiled by MKVExtract where it would only take about a minute per file and I don't want to go back to having to spend half an hour per file to convert like I have in the past.

Thank you!

Extract all the files in the archive into one folder and make sure to read the notes.txt for some instructions :)

I hope it works - MKVExtract and ffmpeg work similarly for this so depending on what the error was, it might fail too if it's something wrong with the video itself. But good luck!

:( Sadly, it doesn't work. Or rather I can convert the file to an mp4 and the video plays but when I try to import in to Premiere I get an "Unsupported format or damaged file" message.

So I think I will be converting the footage the long way this time.

But thank you for your help!
