ART & VID: A prince from another world [Merlin Paper Legends 2012]
Title: A prince from another world
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] mithborien
Writer: [livejournal.com profile] van_maniac

Merlin lives in current times and has always felt like he didn't quite belong, an outcast of sorts. One day, he finds out that the lake in the new park the city built is far from ordinary and holds a dangerous secret. Unable to stay away from the lake, Merlin finds himself in an unexplained situation and trying to make sense of it all.

So this is both my first Merlin Big Bang and my first vid in the Merlin fandom (but hopefully there should be more vids to come!). I had a lot of fun creating the vid although why are AUs so hard to make :( But I hope the vid acts as a nice accompaniment to the story!

These are just some sketches I did that were originally done to add additional artwork to the poster but I decided they could stand on their own. In my mind, they are all sketches that Merlin has done.

Feel free to take and use any icons that catch your eye!

Huge thanks go to [livejournal.com profile] the_muppet and [livejournal.com profile] paperlegends! The challenge was so well run it made participating a breeze. Also, congratulations to all the other writers and artists who have participated. I haven't finished going through everyone's entry but they look fabulous and thank heavens I had the last posting day...

And of course, huge thanks go to my writer [livejournal.com profile] van_maniac who was great to work with and sounded so happy when I showed her my first art draft (yay!). I can't wait to read the final version of the story!

Beautiful vid, you transitioned between the 'real world' and Camelot so well.
Nice sketches as well!

YAY, another video as an acccompanying art! And a gorgeous one! You did an awesome AU video, with smooth transitions between the two world. I love it so much! ANd your drawings are also beautiful.:) My favourite is the dragon though. (I cannot help myself, I am a fan of dragons.)

I can't stop watching the vid and just adore the art and the icons. I used them all in the story, changing up the icons. Thank you so much for doing the art for my story. You have made my wish come true, to have a vid done for one of my fanfics of Merlin. Hugs!!

You are just so amazing!

That vid is AMAZING!!! The sketches are awesome too, of course. It's all so well done...I'm usually not a big fan of the Merlin/Arthur thing, but I think you might have me convinced to give this one a try anyway.

Thank you! Knowing that it convinced you to give Merlin/Arthur a try is a pretty big compliment :)

WOW. Totally loved the trailer. It was simple but absolutely clear - the story was pretty clear without even reading the summary first. And of course the music ♥ The poster really looks like a real movie poster or something, so yeah, totally loved it :D Always amazes me when arters or vidders type such coding when the vid or text is, like, above the picture. Kudos!

Thank you :D Yeah, for my latest Big Bangs I decided to put my coding skills to better use, glad you like!

Omigod. OH, MY GOD. *fans self* The trailer. It's FANTASTIC. The clips, and the background music. Everything's PERFECT. And now I am dying of feelings... *gross sobbing*

Same goes for the poster and the artwork and the icons! *rolls around in them* Everything is simple and clean and just wonderful... *sigh* Totally reading the story tonight. <33333

I really enjoyed the video, and it went so well with that haunting music. You fitted the modern images in with the canon ones so well. The sketches are really nice too, I particularly liked the sword.

I liked how the video took elements from both worlds and made it work. Well done.
